Dr. Sherwin R. Callwood, Sr. was born in St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands.He is the third of four sons born to the late Wilfred William Callwood and Catherine Leander Callwood.From as young as he can remember, all he ever wanted to be was a minister. Ministry is not a job to him it is joy and life.At the age of five, he moved to New York.
He is a product of true Christian Education.He attended R. T. Hudson Elementary School and Northeastern Academy where he graduated with the highest Bible Award in the history of the school and still holds that record to this day. While in elementary school, he became one of the original members of the world famous Boys Choir of Harlem. He sang with them for 13 ½ years.He received his BA Degree in Theology with a minor in Greek and Hebrew from Oakwood College, now known as Oakwood University.He then matriculated to Christ the King Seminary in Buffalo, NY and Florida Christian University where he earned his MA Degree in Biblical Studies and his Th.D. Degree in Theology.
Pastor Callwood has been pastoring for 26 years in six districts which consisted of 14 churches.He also pastored in the Northeastern Conference, the New York Conference (three  all white churches), and currently the Southeastern Conference.
He has conducted crusades, weeks of prayer, seminars, and workshops in the United States, the Caribbean, South Africa, South American, and Australia.He has also been the youth speaker at various camp meetings. He serves as an adjunct professor at the graduate school for the Northern Caribbean University where he teaches a course in Systematic Theology.His ministry has taken him to four out of seven continents. While pastoring in Thomasville, GA, he was asked to be the keynote speaker for their Holy Week Crusade for all of the Baptist Churches in the city.
Many of you may not know that he actively serves as Chaplain for the Civil Air Patrol.His rank is Captain, soon to be a Major.He teaches Moral Leadership Courses monthly to the servicemen.
He used to serve as Youth Ministries and National Servicemen’s Organization Director for the Southeastern Conference. A position held for eight years.After serving as Youth Ministries Director he was sent to Jacksonville. He pastored five churches--Ephesus, Breath of Life, the Bethsaida SDA Church, the Brazilian SDA Church, and the Hispanic SDA Church.Subsequently, he pastored the Ephesus and Breath of Life SDA Churches.He also managed a Child Care Center—New Beginning Child Development Center and a K-8 school—Ephesus Jr. Academy that is now operating debt free with 89 children.God has blessed him to see 84 precious souls added to the church in 2010 without a crusade.
He has received numerous awards and memberships including Outstanding Young Men of America, member of the Thomasville Cultural Society Board, and treasurer for the ministers in South Georgia and North Florida.He has mentored and tutored youth in the city schools.In 2007 he was inducted into The New York Metropolitan Who’s Who of Ministers.
